Call for Papers
The 4th SEGJ International Symposium -- Fracture Imaging --

The Society of Exploration Geophysicists of Japan (SEGJ) announces a Call for Papers for the 4th SEGJ International Symposium on Fracture Imaging, which will be held at NIHONDAIGAKU-kaikan, Tokyo, Japan on December 10-12, 1998. The symposium is co-sponsored by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) and the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists (ASEG).

The symposium will focus on "Fracture Imaging" and "Underground Heterogeneity" and reflect the trends that have taken place in research since the 2nd symposium (1992) and 3rd symposium (1995) in Tokyo. Fracture imaging technology plays an important role in many fields of science and technology, such as oil industry, geothermal engineering, and environmental engineering. The technical sessions will cover "Fracture Detection, Imaging, and Characterization" and "Underground Heterogeneity." Your theories, experiments and case studies on related technologies would be appreciated.

Abstracts should be 400-500 words and delivered to one of the symposium co-chairmen at the addresses below by April 30, 1998. Please specify your choice of either oral or poster. Please inform us of your e-mail address and/or telefax number as well as mailing address. Submitting the abstract by e-mail to the following address is preferable:

segj4th@gsjart.gsj.go.jp
All speakers are required to submit the full paper for the proceedings after receiving notice of acceptance of the oral or poster presentation. The deadline for the full paper in the specified format is August 31, 1998. The proceedings will be handed to all participants at the symposium. The official language of the symposium is English.
