Time-frequency Decomposition using Matching Pursuit Algorithm

Abstract

Time-frequency decomposition algorithms are useful to study frequency attributes of seismic signals. As a wavelet-based transformation, matching pursuit decomposition using Morlet wavelets and Ricker wavelets offers high-resolution decomposition results when seismic wavelets are close to atom wavelets. Modelled seismic traces composed by matched wavelets can be used for time-frequency analysis.
