Abstract

The study of shallow geological formation (Pliocene- Quaternary) is really essential. In the past, researches in Vietnam were only focused on land and near coastal areas. In this paper, the authors present the results using of 2-D, 3-D seismic and HRS data to study sediments, tectonic movements and deformations during Pliocene - Quaternary time of the whole Southeastern Continental Shelf of Vietnam.

Based on seismic stratigraphy and other geological methods, the study allows to establish the structural, neotectonic, and dynamic maps as well as to predict sedimentary facies and depositional environment of Pliocene-Quaternary formations offshore Vietnam. Besides that, the author also focus on tectonic movements and deformations during Pliocene – Quaternary, which is the last period of neotectonic development.
