The 8th SEGJ International Symposium
- Imaging and Interpretation -

November 26-28, 2006
Clock Tower Centennial Hall, Kyoto University Kyoto, Japan.

Invitation

It is our great pleasure to invite our colleagues to participate in the 8th SEGJ International Symposium, which is organized by the Society of Exploration Geophysicists of Japan (SEGJ). This biannual symposium has started as a topical symposium on tomography. Then after, we have expanded the scope of topics, and "Imaging and interpretation" is the subtitle of this symposium. Geophysical exploration technologies have enormous possibilities. However, raw data cannot give us enough information, which is included in it. Only with good imaging technology and interpretation, we can extract and use all of them. We think good balance between hardware and software technologies make it possible. It is our hope that we can provide an ideal occasion to discuss these issues in this symposium.

We believe that the international collaboration is essentially important for the future geophysical exploration and applications. SEGJ has kept good contact with Korean Society of Exploration Geophysicists (KSEG), the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists(ASEG), Vietnam Association of the Geophysicists (VAG), the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG), European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), and the Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society (EEGS).We want to enforce these collaboration in this symposium, and especially we want to provide chances to young scientists and engineers to learn more about the exciting world of Geophysical exploration. We are planning various activities in this symposium, to enhance these issues. November in Kyoto is a truly attractive destination of tourists. See you in Kyoto and experience traditional fall in the old capital of Japan.
