Status of Geophysical Activities in Japan

The total number of geophysical explorations in Japan obtained by the annual questionnaire surveys, reflects the occurrence of major natural hazards and the changes of social conditions, which Japan has experienced. Figure 1 shows that the activity in the civil engineering is most predominant, and Figure 2 shows that the seismic method is most widely used in Japan.
