International Symposium of the Society of Resource Geology "Gold Exploration in the Circum-Pacific"

Date: October 14 (Thursday) 2021

Time: From 9:00 am to 4:30 pm JST (UTC+9)

  1. Method: Virtual meeting (Cisco Webex)
  2. Sponsor: The Society of Resource Geology

Co-sponsor: JOGMEC (Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corporation)

  1. Conveners: Yasushi Watanabe (Akita Univ.), Shuichi Miyatake (JOGMEC) and Ryohei Takahashi (Akita Univ.)

  1. Aim of the symposium

Regional gold exploration revived in Japan in 2016 by two Canadian exploration companies, which was triggered by the change of
the Japanese mining law. The new exploration activities immediately led to the discovery of a few promising projects in Hokkaido,
Japan, and it became another trigger to reconsider Japanese exploration room for gold. This symposium aims to review the recent
exploration results and scientific progress in the circum-Pacific region, and share the successful experience and ideas for future
exploration.
